Leadership Skills:
As I have matriculated through the MPH program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, my leadership skill set has both broadened and diversified. In addition to being competent in the core area of public health covered in this e-portfolio, I am competent in health policy, management of community health organizations, epidemiology, community health interventions, public health statistics, and environmental health. As a result of gaining these skills, I now have heightened self-confidence that I will excel as a health educator. I now look forward to entering the professional working world.
To me, a great leader is not defined by his/her number of followers; instead, leaders are defined by the impressions they leave on individuals, communities, and their surrounding environment. For example, public health educators that improve the health status of the communities they work in are great leaders. Leaders should consider all possible outcomes before making decision that will affect the health and wellbeing of community members. I feel as though I fulfill this leadership philosophy.
I have a strong work ethic and always strive to produce my best quality of work. I pride myself on being culturally competent honest, trustworthy, dependable, and dedicated. I am a team player, who is willing to comprise my own my own opinions for the better of the team and/or community that I am working with. I am an active listener and am good at decoding verbal and nonverbal messages.
